Earlier on in the year, we looked at the accidents around Kings Cross station, one of which, the death of Deep Lee, spawned a number of go slows organised by theBikes Alive and Kings Cross Environment blogs.
Now despite all of the go-slows, vigils and campaigning by cyclists in the area, campaigners are still waiting for the promised consultations of the area.
Using the interactive accident map on our site you can see that despite the fact that cycling across the UK as a whole has only increased by 2.2% from 2010 to 2011. The number of cyclists injured around the Kings Cross gyratory has increased by 68.8%.
With more and more people getting injured at what is widely acknowledged as a woefully designed road system, how long must we put up with it? As the Kings Cross Environment blog eloquently put it, the pressure for a safer King’s Cross for pedestrians and cyclists must be kept up, and not be allowed to be diverted, nor forgotten.
