Brilliant win for a bricklayer on a suicidal crossing by the M25

We finished a great case last week for a lovely man , a self employed bricklayer, who was cycling over a very dangerous part of a slip road to the M25 when he was hit at speed by an overtaking car, it was one of those rare cases where neither party is helped by the road layout.

I decided to contact the local authority and Highways England about the crossing after the case concluded since it is so dangerous, pedestrians and cyclists use it even though the speed limit there is 70 mph, tantamount to crossing a motorway !

The client KC said that the police spoke to him about how dangerous it was when they attended the scene .I said to my opposite number that if we were dealing with a case where my client had been even more badly hurt, we would have had to consider bringing in as defendants the local highways agency because of the road layout.

A wonderful result just shy of six figures when the client had been advised by counsel to walk away for 20k less. They can be so negative , those barristers !
