On 16th December 2021, we had a wonderful victory for Rob Williams , a local architect , in a case against our home ''cycling borough'', Hackney Council.

Rob broke his wrist after going into a depression near his place of work on the Colville Estate ,London,N1 but good old Hackney and their lawyers denied the case all the way up to trial.

These cases are so difficult, whatever the state of the highway, councils routinely deny and send us a tree trunk of indecipherable paperwork masquerading as their inspection records !

Dan Tobin ( barrister , the highway guru, from 12 Kings Bench Walk) and I won a case several years ago against Herts County Council,  and it was wonderful to continue our strike rate, two out of two was my opening line to him after the case.

In fact, it was three out of three since we won a similar case against Essex County Council earlier in 2021 when they cynically caved in the night before trial.

Rob's case had actually been adjourned twice due to Covid and nearly fell foul again so great to finish 2021 with a win for a lovely patient cyclist.
